Introducing Jelo Luxury: a collection of 21 venues in Istria and how to get in

Jelo Luxury is an editorially selected collection of hotels, wineries, restaurants and experiences at jelo.hr/luxury. In September 2026 it holds 21 venues, five itineraries and five guides. What a partnership brings, what it does not promise and how to apply.

Jelo.hr has been running since spring 2026 and for most venues it works as a directory: a guest looks for somewhere to eat, finds the profile, books. For part of the offer that frame does not fit. A wine estate with its own vineyards, a hotel that is the reason for the trip, a konoba where people know who is cooking: a listing with opening hours does not help them, because what sets them apart does not fit in three lines. For them we built Jelo Luxury, a separate space at jelo.hr/luxury.

What is in the collection in September 2026

The collection is small and stays that way. At the time of writing, 21 profiles are published, all in Istria County, because the collection started from one region and expands only once that region is covered properly. Among them are:

A konoba with ten tables and a five-star hotel stand side by side. The criterion is neither size nor category, but whether there is a reason for someone to change their travel plans because of the venue. A venue enters the collection because the editors chose it, not because it paid for something; that is the one rule that does not change.

What Jelo Luxury is made of

Five parts work together. The collection: every venue has its own page with an editorial text, photographs, practical details and links to its own website and reservations. The map: the whole collection on one map, filtered by category and county. The Journal: editorial stories and thematic guides; in September 2026 five guides on fish in Istria are published, from where to eat fish to a fishing calendar, along with the first major story, on Meneghetti. Itineraries: five ready-made plans, one for half a day, two for a full day and two for a weekend, each with an hour-by-hour schedule and a route map, built only from venues in the collection. The concierge: the guest answers a few questions and receives a suggested day from the collection.

The interface works in six languages: Croatian, English, German, Italian, Slovenian and Russian. A text in German does not reach the same reader as a text in Croatian; it reaches the one who is still choosing which country to go to.

Why it works differently from an advert

An advert is recognised as an advert. A guest reads an editorial recommendation differently, because a third party has judged whether something is worth mentioning, and when the text also says what is not perfect, the rest gains weight. The second difference is duration: a social media post works for a few days, a campaign for as long as it is paid, while a text stays published and keeps working in search engines a year later. How many people find it depends on how much jelo.hr grows in the meantime; that is a risk we share with the partner, which is why we do not hide it behind numbers.

Three levels and what each brings

A partnership does not buy a place in the collection. It buys content, position and our people's time, in one category and one county, for twelve months.

  1. Selected. A one-off listing of the profile, with no annual fee: an editorial profile in six languages, a place on the map and links to the venue's website and contacts.
  2. Editorial Partner. An annual partnership shared by at most three venues per category and county. It brings two original Journal stories a year in Croatian and English, inclusion in two thematic guides, two seasonal features, one homepage feature and a link to the official booking system.
  3. Signature Partner. The only venue in its category and county. Four Journal stories a year, one of which is a major Signature story published in Croatian, English, German and Italian, four guides, four seasonal features, four homepage features, a priority marker on the map, highlighting in results, up to six profile updates during the year and an annual content plan agreed in advance.

Prices and a line-by-line comparison table are published on the partnership page. The annual package is paid in advance. The booking link points to the system the venue already uses; a venue without one can take guests through jelo.hr online reservations, and one without its own site through the restaurant website from the same system.

What a year of cooperation looks like

Content is not published all at once. In winter and early spring come the texts that need time to rank, because that is when guests plan their summer. Spring is the time for the major story and the homepage. In summer, shorter practical texts appear, because the guest is already here. Autumn carries the most content, because the harvest, truffles and the quieter part of the season coincide. The plan is agreed before the start, together with the partner, and adjusted to their programme.

From the partner we need photographs in decent resolution with permission to publish, accurate basic details and one person who can answer a question. For longer texts we sometimes ask for a short conversation with someone who knows the kitchen, the cellar or the history of the house. We do not publish ready-made marketing copy; if you send it, it serves as a source of facts, but we write the text and the partner sees it before publication to correct facts.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee a number of views, clicks, enquiries or reservations; that is written on the partnership page too, and nobody doing this work honestly can say otherwise. We guarantee the content, the place and the time of publication, and the partner measures the result themselves through the traffic arriving from the links. A partnership does not grant automatic entry into the collection, and a venue selected by the editors stays in it even if it does not become a partner.

How to apply

If you run a venue you believe belongs in a collection like this, no presentation is needed. A few sentences about the venue, a link to your website and, if you have them, a few photographs are enough. Write to info@jelo.hr or use the contact form; we reply with our assessment, and if the venue fits the concept, we agree on the next steps.
